D-Day veterans place their branch standard in York Minster

Today we visited York Minster for a special occasion in which members of the York Branch of the Normandy Veterans’ Association placed their Branch Standard in its final resting place, the western wall of the North Transept within the Minster.

Witnessing this ceremony was special for us as a company because it inspired us being around just four surviving veterans who fought on that fateful day.

This ceremony further embedded how much of a crucial turning point of the war D-Day panned out to be, so it was very touching to witness the branch standard being placed within the history books of York Minster. The standard will now be preserved in York Minster from this day forward which means generation after generation will question and remember what the British Army did for our country 73 years ago.
